Minden HotelSchulenburg, TX Location: 607 Lyons Avenue Schulenburg, TX 78956 The Story: In the sleepy town of Schulenburg, Texas the main attraction seems to be the 80-year-old Von Minden Hotel. This historical haunted hotel was built in 1927, houses 40 rooms and includes a theater. Legend has it that it is haunted by three resident ghosts: a former Railroad worker, the girlfriend of a World War II soldier and a mystery woman only known as "Ms. X". One room, the "Jumper's Room" is even named after the World War II paratrooper that took his own life. While he was journeying back home to his girlfriend after the war, a number of letters written by his girlfriend, known as Miss Polka Dot by the town folk, were delivered to him at this hotel. Unfortunately, he read the letters out of order, and one of them was a Dr. John letter stating she didn't want to be with him anymore. In a letter that was dated later, she had changed her mind. However, he did not see this and jumped out the window after reading her first letter. The next afternoon, Miss Dot showed up at the hotel to welcome him home only to learn that he had took his own life. Since then, Miss Dot has been seen walking the halls looking for her lost lover. The former railroad worker also is said to wander the real haunted hotel. He was found dead behind the door of room 23. He is believed to show in photos taken in the hotel which reveal orbs and strange streaks of blue lights. Ever since the Spring Texas Spirit Seekers have held the paranormal conference at Von Minden, the real haunted hotel has been a favorite stop for paranormal investigations. These ghost investigations have revealed many photos containing orbs as well as EMF detectors recording unexplained spikes. If the reports hold true, it sounds as if you will get some extra company when you book a night at the real haunted Von Minden hotel in the little town of Texas. |
