Will Turner - The Costume

Alright, so you've decided that you are going to be Will Turner from the "Pirates of The Caribbean". By now you've probably figured out that there are not many (if you can find any) Will Turner Halloween Costumes out there. For you hard core "Pirates of The Caribbean" fans however, this will simply not do. We have come up with an extensive guide to help you to become Will Turner this Halloween. Because of the fact that you can't buy your Will Turner Halloween Costume, we are going to give you a guide on how to make one. As you've probably noticed, we do not have a make-up section in Will Turner's section of our costume guide. This is because of the fact that Will Turner does not wear much make-up, other then "touch ups". So, with that out of the way, you are already a step ahead of the "Captain Jack Sparrow" crowd.

Ok, lets get started. We will begin with Will Turner's shirt and vest. As these will be hard items to make, you might consider how authentic you would like to be this Halloween. For the serious Will Turner portrayers, we will give you some tips that we think will help you in this whole process. One of the main factors that you will need for your studies will be our Reference Photos found HERE. His shirt is a white, loose fitting, collard, deep-v shirt much like the one that Captain Jack Sparrow wears. You will want this to be a rather thin material, and have cuffs that you can button. Here is a reference picture of Captain Jack Sparrow's shirt. The vest over this shirt is an off-white/tan button down vest that is about mid-thigh in length. The difficulty with this vest is the intricate patterns that are displayed on the chest area and lower parts. You can probably get away without these designs, but if you are looking to be the "wow" this Halloween, you might consider spending some time figuring out how to sew some designs onto your vest. Now keep in mind that Will Turner keeps his vest unbuttoned about half-way pretty much throughout the movies.

Now that we have the vest and shirt out of the way, lets move on and take a look at Will Turner's pants. These are a "heather grey", and again look much like those worn by "Captain Jack Sparrow". These should include 4-5 buttons on each leg followed by a buckle, and a button up front that includes one normal top button, and 5 additional buttons on the front. A good reference for these pants would be to look at our "Captain Jack Sparrow" reference photos, as there are a lot more photo's available for Jack Sparrow then Will Turner. If you want to go for that authenticity that it seems a lot of people are looking for, you should look into finding a jacket, as Will Turner is wearing one throughout a lot of the movie. The cheapest way to go would be to find a vinyl "knock-off". We are trying to locate one for sale, but are having trouble finding one. If you find a good source for one in your travels, please contact us so that we may add that to our site!

And now, the boots. It seems as though we are running into some repetition here with the similarities of Captain Jack Sparrow's costume, and Will Turner's. The boots are no exception, as they are almost identical to Jack Sparrow's. These are a dark-brown, with boot tops that fold down. These come up to about the knee. As there are a few Captain Jack Sparrow boot tops, you may want to consider that for a low-budget way around the boots. As getting real boots like that will probably turn out to be very expensive.
