Halloween is a great time for a family to express their
own imagination, as well as creativity. Imagination and pretend play are
key elements in helping to grow your child's mind, as well as provide
something that is enjoyable for your child. As creativity is fundamental
in your child's future, it is good to help nourish this at a young age.
As your child grows up to be in virtually any occupation, the benefits
of a well stimulated imagination and a healthy sense of creativity are
endless. From making your own costume, to piecing together a costume
from the many available in stores, you and your child will see how fun
and educational the whole process of getting ready for Halloween can
really be.
The issue of finding a "great" kids Halloween costume, can sometimes
hold difficulties that seem to make it harder to do each year. For the
parent, a "great" child Halloween costume consists of safety, warmth,
and most importantly suitability. As for the kids point of view, a
"great" costume consists mostly of what's popular that particular year,
while still being unique enough that they aren't going to run into many
kids in the same costume. One of the hardest things to do is to find
that happy medium, where you and your child are both satisfied with the
costume choice. A few helpful hints in making this difficult decision
would be to make sure that your child makes the choice with you.
Everything always sounds better when you take part in making the choice.
Give them a few guidelines for choosing explaining what you will allow, and then
let them go from there. Here are a few tasteful choices from our top 10
list of 2006 that you can go over for idea's.
Boys

Captain Jack Sparrow
I'm sure that at some point in our lives we've all wanted to live the
fantasy of being a pirate, that age-old idea couples with the smash hits of
the "Pirates Of The Caribbean" movies. The Captain Jack Sparrow costumes
can also be fit to your budget, as there are various styles of the same
costume. From the Deluxe which includes a Shirt, Vest, Belts with
buckles, and boot covers, to just piecing your costume together from the
individual boot covers, shirts, hats, moustache, pants etc...
With that many options, your child is sure to be a hit as "Captain Jack
Sparrow".
Sir Peter Of Narnia
Here is yet another fantasy that almost every little boy has, to be a
brave and noble night. As most childhood hero's generally do, this
costume comes straight out of the movie "The Chronicles Of Narnia". Your
child can now become the hero, with again more selection to fit your
budget. With the Deluxe costume you receive a deluxe shirt with faux
chain mail sleeves and sewn in tabard, helmet with visor, 2 shoulder
guards, a sewn in belt with metal buckle and pants. Or for the tighter
budget you can get the standard costume which includes a shirt with
attached hood and sewn in tabard, an attached belt with metal buckle and
pants. Your child can make their own adventures this Halloween, while
still being safe and tasteful.
Astronaut Costume
Here is the third top fantasy for boys, becoming an astronaut. With many
to choose from, it shouldn't be too hard to find one that your little
boy simply "can't live without". Not only is an astronaut a position that is
honored and respected, it is also fun to pretend play. The sky is the
limit when it comes to your child's imagination.
Girls
SuperGirl
As your little girl dreams of being somebody that can change the world,
Supergirl generally comes to mind. Let your little girl's imagination
fly as she portrays her new Supergirl identity. This costume is not only
tasteful, but the bright colors make your child easier to see at
night, keeping her that much safer for the big night.
Ride-Em Horse
Horses hold an essence about them that portrays honor and integrity. As
your little cowgirl dreams of having her own pony, let her ride one for
Halloween. This unique costume features a soft stuffed horse that your
child "puts on". Whether playing a rebel or just a hometown cowgirl,
your child is bound to run into some fun with this costume.
American Idol
Nearly every little girl dreams of being a famous singer, and with the
show "American Idol" it seems to them that reaching that goal is now
much more obtainable. Even though not many of us are sure what to think about
Simon, your child only sees opportunity. Now they can become that
winning "American Idol", if only for one night. Let your child's
imagination sing out this Halloween with the American Idol costume!
